Collage of 5 pictures showcasing Goa: pristine sandy beach with waves, aerial view of winding roads and lakes amid hills, rocky coastline with golden grass, serene river at sunset, and a beachside meal with a burger and beer.

India has over 1500 kms of coastline on its west coast. Goa and the Konkan coast, which spans Maharashtra, Goa, and Karnataka, is an area of spectacular natural beauty and cultural richness.

Goa and Konkan’s golden beaches range from busy with lively shacks to quaint and pristine. There are lush forests and mountainous regions perfect for hiking and adventure sports. It is also littered with colorful fishing villages and delicious Konkani food. Close to Mumbai, this whole region is a gem waiting to be explored.

My husband and I spent a lot of time in the region, traveling from Mumbai and visiting friends in Goa. Here are some of our recommendations for the region.
