18 Best South Mumbai Restaurants

Here are some of the best restaurants in South Mumbai that are enjoyed by locals and visitors alike.

1. Americano

This restaurant has great food and excellent cocktails. The tall ceilings create a nice roomy atmosphere away from the crowded city action and small lanes of Fort. In my opinion, it’s hard to find good pizza in India, but if you like Neapolitan style, definitely try the pizza here!

They’re open for dinner Wednesday – Sunday and have lunch service on the weekends too.

Best for: Nice group dinner or date night drinks at the bar
Neighborhood: Fort

2. The Table

A farm to table restaurant with ingredient-driven focus that draws inspiration from cuisines all over the world. The menu has small and large plates that are intended for sharing creating a lively and social atmosphere. The innovative dishes served here regularly change based on seasonal ingredients.

I last ate there in September 2023 and from the current menu, I highly recommend the brussel sprouts, Korean BBQ beef tacos, and the lamb pappardelle pasta.

3. Burma Burma Restaurant & Tea Room

Delightful Burmese restaurant with an all vegetarian menu. If you are a meat eater, don’t let the vegetarian menu scare you off, everything we ate here was exceptionally delicious and filling. Note that they do not serve alcohol so come for lunch and enjoy their wide range of tea options to sip on.

Best for: Group lunch
Neighborhood: Fort

4. Gustoso

A fine dining Italian spot with a flare. They do authentic Italian with a focus on high quality ingredients, without complicating the cuisine with the usual complexity you find in India. Make sure to try the pizzas and the pastas.

This is my favorite Italian restaurant in Mumbai. They update their menu with the seasons. Don’t miss their delicious cocktail menu!

There’s also a location in Bandra West.

5. Bastian, Worli

This restaurant was made for Instagram with its trendy décor and pretty dishes. It’s a bit hyped up which makes some people extra critical in their reviews of this restaurant but my friends and I enjoyed all our food and had a good experience. Be sure to get dessert too.

Best for: Brunch or dinner
Neighborhood: Worli

6. Kaui Kitchen

Casual but super yummy Asian food restaurant. The small space only has room for a handful tables inside in the air conditioning plus a couple more outside so make sure to snag a reservation if you want to be sure to get a table.

Given the word breakfast is in the name, I recommend this restaurant for delicious brunch food. It’s easy to miss as it’s tucked away on the second floor of a building so look out for the small round sign above the staircase that leads to the breakfast house.

Try their unique offering of coffee and tonic water. I was hesitate but really enjoyed the refreshing coffee drink.

13. Kala Ghoda Café

This modern minimal café has an extensive “light bites” menu. I’ve found their food to be just as enjoyable as the coffee. Perfect place to stop in for an afternoon sandwich and coffee. They also have a wine bar making it a good option for an evening catch up with a friend.

14. Leopold Café

Since its establishment in 1871, this iconic café has been a beloved haunt for both travelers and locals. It gained international attention when it was one of the sites targeted during the devastating 2008 terror attacks in Mumbai. Despite the scars of the past (it still bears bullet holes from that tragic day), Café Leopold remains an enduring symbol of resistance and the city’s resilience.

Popular among college students for their beer towers. I recommend ordering a few starters here and skipping the mains.
