Best Places To Watch The Sunset In Mumbai
If you are looking for the best place to watch the sunset in Mumbai, you’re in luck! There’s a variety of locations with ocean views because Mumbai is a collection of 7 islands joined by causeways made by the British. 80% of the city today is reclaimed land so no matter where you are the sea is a stone’s throw away, which makes it a great place to watch the sunset over the Arabian Sea.
Whether you are looking to capture a photograph of the Mumbai sunset or just enjoy it in the moment, there’s plenty of spots with a great view.
Best Places To Watch The Sunset In Mumbai
Like most places in Mumbai, these sunset locations tend to be crowded, especially during the weekends so, if possible, I recommend you head to one of the spots below on a weekday to get a more peaceful sunset.
1. Bandra Reclamation
This reclaimed area is now a park that offers a stunning setting where the sun paints the sky in hues of gold, orange, and pink. There’s a promenade to walk along with views of the bay and the skyline with an “I love Mumbai” sign perfect for snapping a picture.
2. Carter Road Promenade
This kilometer long walkway along the sea is a good spot for a sunset stroll. You’ll be joined by lots of other walkers looking to get in their exercise after a day at work. Afterwards, stop by Social for some good food and delicious cocktails.
If you are looking for other places to enjoy a sunset walk, there are a handful of walkable neighborhoods in Mumbai, including areas of Bandra as well as Ballard Estate and Fort in South Mumbai.
3. Bandstand & Bandra Fort
Start at Bandra Fort for a view of the Sea Link and then make your way down to Bandstand’s sea promenade as the sun sets over the water.
4. Marine Drive
Marine Drive is also known as the Queen’s Necklace. This spot used to be a highlight for tourists and locals alike. Unfortunately, the work on the coastal roads has blocked some of the views. But this spot is still prime sunset viewing.
Nariman Point at the end of Marine Drive is a good spot that isn’t blocked by any construction currently.
5. Mahim Beach
This is an alternative to the overcrowded Juhu Beach (which I recommend avoiding). There’s a walkway along the water with a nice view of the sea link with the sun setting beyond that.
Mumbai Restaurants with Sunset Views
If you want to break away from the crowds at public parks and beaches, try booking a reservation at one of these spots during sunset.
6. Cecconi’s at Soho House Mumbai
This Italian eatery on the first floor of Soho House overlooks Juhu Beach. The best part of eating here is enjoying the beautiful sunset view away from the crowds of the beach, which can get quite busy and chaotic. For other restaurants with sea facing views check out the best restaurants in Juhu Beach.
7. Souk at the Taj Mahal Palace
This Mediterranean restaurant on a high floor of the Taj Mahal Palace hotel overlooks the harbor. You’ll get a nice view of the sunset that includes the iconic Gateway of India.
8. Dome at the InterContinental
Dome is the rooftop bar at the InterContinental hotel that serves small plates and cocktails. The best part is the open air lounge setting lets you fully bask in the colors of the sunset.
