Where to eat Indian Food when visiting Mumbai

These are my restaurant recommendations for where to eat in Mumbai as a tourist specifically. Not that non-tourists can’t or don’t enjoy these places but I think they offer great introductions to Indian food for those less familiar with it as well as tasty dishes for people who are well versed.

1. Masque

Probably the most expensive meal you will eat on your trip in Mumbai. This restaurant is a full package experience, serving a delicious refined 10-course tasting menu that is updated seasonally. Each course has a unique story behind the food, whether it’s about where the ingredients are sourced from or how it is prepared.

2. Bombay Canteen

I like to think of this restaurant as Indian tapas. They offer small plates making it fun to go with a group and try different dishes. The cocktail menu here is impressive with a range of unique specialty drinks.

3. Pali Bhavan

Located in Bandra West, this restaurant serves upscale Indian food in a charming but sleek atmosphere. Be sure to try the rich black dhal.

Where to eat international cuisine when visiting Mumbai

If you’ve had enough Indian food on your trip and are looking for some other cuisines to enjoy, you should make a reservation at one of these restaurants.

6. Americano

This modern restaurant offers share plates and a selection of refreshing cocktails making it the perfect place for a group dinner. In my opinion, it’s hard to find good pizza in Mumbai, but Americano delivers with their Neapolitan style pizza.

7. Cecconi’s (at Soho House)

As an Italian food lover, I struggled to find delicious Italian restaurants in Mumbai. But Cecconi’s delivers delicious Italian and a calm atmosphere overlooking the crowded Juhu Beach.

8. Izumi

This Japanese restaurant, located in Bandra, offers delicious sushi and ramen. Another place where I loved every dish my friends and I ordered.

9. Burma Burma Restaurant & Tea Room

This was my first experience with Burmese food and I loved everything we ordered! Ask the waiter for recommendations and enjoy your meal in a serene atmosphere away from the chaotic streets of Mumbai.

10. Perch

Labeled as a wine and coffee bar, this restaurant also offers flavorful food options. Enjoy some share plates while sipping on their creative cocktails.
